Job Description:

You will work as part of a supportive team to enable a young man to explore his hobbies, have fun, play games and enjoy life in his own home and out in the community. This post is funded through Direct Payments which is funded by the local authority. This scheme is intended to enable this young man and his family to manage his support independently by employing his own personal assistants.
The main duties to be included within this role are:
• Support and encourage this young man to participate in his favourite activities.
• Support and encourage this young man to access activities in the community that he enjoys. A Personal assistant should encourage this and seek out opportunities for this young man to socialise. Ensure that he is safe when out and about.
• Provide supervision while he relaxes in his own home. Offer support to change DVD’s or games as and when required.
• Ensure that the food provided for this young man is gluten free and has been cut into bite-size chunks. Prepare and provide food and drinks whilst in the home as and when required.
• Provide support with going to the toilet while out and about.
• Promote this young man’s independence and support him with the development of life skills. A personal assistant will have to prepare this young man for the future.
• Give this young man consistent one-to-one support and adapt to meet all of his emotional and personal needs. Provide reassurance if he is worried by dogs.
• Identify when this young man feels uncomfortable and support him to take clothing off if he is too hot or dress warmer when he is too cold. Ensure and check he is not in any pain.
Ensure this young man is safe at all times during your working period.
Complete any other reasonable tasks or duties that are relevant to this role. This will be agreed in advance.

• Has good local knowledge
• Good timekeeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
