Post for Vascular Sonographer
Working with Vascular surgeons, Radiologists, and sonographers, the post holders will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in Imaging, liaising with all involved, ensuring appropriate imaging, reporting, and patient management. They will provide a high professional and technical standard of ultrasound.
Our Sonographers work within departmental protocols, written in conjunction with ultrasound guidelines such as BMUS, RCOG, RCR, and NICE. The post holder will also liaise with a multidisciplinary team, including consultant Radiologists, involved in the management of patients. The post holder will work alongside colleagues to ensure the day-to-day workload is managed effectively.
We have regular vascular surgeon input and provide a singular vascular ultrasound service including arterial and venous scans. Training in arterial work with a qualified accredited vascular scientist (AVS) is provided.
Hours per week: 15
Main duties of the job:
1. The post holder will independently and autonomously undertake a wide range of ultrasound procedures and produce a medical report on at least 95% of those procedures.
The department works closely with all allied health professionals such as Surgical, Medical, Obstetric, and Gynaecological. The team of sonographers integrates with all services and specifically obstetrics, providing a high quality and efficient service.
Although we are a small department, there is strong Radiologist interest in Ultrasound with local expertise in US guided drainage and biopsy, liver stiffness measurement (ARFI), Small Bowel imaging, and micro-bubble contrast (Sonovue). The post offers the opportunity to gain experience in all these areas.
