Job Title: Commissioning Engineer
Contract Length: 12 months
Location: Capenhurst, Cheshire
Rate: PAYE or Umbrella options
Scope & Objectives:
Our client requires up to six Project Testing & Handover Engineers to support the management of installation, testing/commissioning, and handover of projects.
Deliverables & Milestones:
Resourced programmes will be produced for specific projects and the PT&H Engineers will be responsible for delivery of the allocated work packages/projects to schedule and cost.
The PT&H Engineers will be accountable to the Senior PT&H Engineer (or their delegate) for providing professional technical input into engineering activities associated with the testing, commissioning, and handover of plant-based and infrastructure-based projects in accordance with UUK management arrangements.
Required Skills and Experience:
1. HNC minimum in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent subject.
2. Associate Member (preferable) of a relevant engineering institution.
3. Minimum five years within the last ten years, preferably within the nuclear, or within a highly regulated and quality-controlled industry such as oil/gas, power plant, or pharmaceutical in roles reliant on professional engineering judgement.
4. Good, broad understanding of other engineering disciplines, technologies, plant systems, and processes that are present in the company.
5. Good practical knowledge of his/her engineering discipline is essential along with a sound working understanding of good installation practices, the use of test equipment, permits to work, etc.
6. Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.
7. Experience of complying with legal and regulatory standards and working with appropriate and international design codes and standards.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including report writing.
9. Thorough knowledge of up-to-date industrial practices related to discipline-specific engineering, including safety through design.
10. Good working knowledge of identifying hazards during the commissioning and acceptance process, applying the principles of prevention, hold point control, and recording/assessing test results.
11. Working knowledge of FATs, ITPs, SATs, and how and when to use Reservation and Observations lists.
12. Knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015.
13. Knowledge and understanding of NEC3 contracts.
14. Experience of producing high-quality technical test documentation.
15. Ability to assess problems, feasibility, and help develop practical solutions.
16. Ability to maintain and develop own technical knowledge to ensure the best, cost-effective, and safe solutions are proposed and implemented.
17. Ability to read and understand engineering documents and drawings used to assist in the commissioning of systems.
18. Experienced in producing clear and concise as-built documentation as part of commissioning.
19. A challenging attitude that when presented with a statement or method of work that may not be clear, safe, or in line with UK policy or accepted standards will speak out and discuss in a professional manner.
The work will be based at the Capenhurst site offices. Minimum SC clearance is essential.
