The post-holder will assist and support the screening team in the provision and ongoing development of antenatal and new-born screening services for pregnant women and new-born babies who are booked for maternity care provided by RCHT.
Main duties of the job
Within the multi-professional team, assist with the implementation, development and evaluation of antenatal and new-born screening programmes consistent with new national standards, guidance and research, to ensure that every pregnant woman and newborn baby is offered and has access to all the appropriate NHS funded screening programmes.
Help support processes/systems/fail-safes to reduce risk in antenatal and new-born screening.
Provide support and specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team regarding women with higher chance screening results/fetal anomaly.
To empower midwives and HCA's by acting as a professional role model, demonstrating best practice and providing support, advice and guidance when required.
Support the delivery of the fetal medicine service.
To act as deputy in the absence of the screening coordinator.
Take an active part in carrying out Quality Assurance programmes, set by NSC, covering all aspects of quality to ensure that the highest standards are set, monitored and maintained, keeping such records as required.
To support the implementation of standards for the screening programmes.
Help maintain data collection to facilitate clinical audits and research projects and support the publication of annual data and quarterly KPIs.
