We have a Section Manager role, working Sunday to Thursday on the night shift, who is responsible for leading a team, accountable for health and safety and operational KPIs.
The role:
You'll lead a team of 30 frontline operatives to effectively clear daily parcel volumes in a fast-paced operational environment, managing daily / weekly KPIs in your section and have responsibility for managing performance, sick absence, attendance, training and the development of your team.
You'll be required to achieve maximum efficiency through resource and contingency planning, ensuring fully skilled resources are available to ensure automation is used to maximum capacity, driving quality of service and maximizing productivity.
Working to tight timescales you'll drive the depot to achieve the highest possible customer service satisfaction levels whilst ensuring a swift resolution to all customer enquiries and complaints.
Other accountabilities:
* Take work area responsibility for delivery of national or area initiatives and support the National Hub management team in local planning and implementation of specific initiatives
* Plan, negotiate and introduce new work plans by coordinating work area level revision activity in liaison with area planning support
* Co-ordinate regular and direct communication activity of key messages impacting on work area, including team brief cascades and the delivery of weekly meetings
* Take an active role in the induction process for new entrants and job changes
* Co-ordinate planned maintenance with Property & Facilities help desk
* Ensure work area compliance to the health and safety policy (including risk assessment), addressing day-to-day issues, and liaison with union H&S representatives

Night Duty allowance is paid during hours worked between 20.00 and 06.00 (£87.40 per week pro rata)
About you:
You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your application:
* Resilience and able to work in a high-pressure, unionised environment/workforce
* Visible / hands-on leadership style with experience of managing large teams of front-line employees in an operational/production environment
* Understanding of HR legislation and processes
* Previous Parcel operations experience and knowledge of functional automation applications would be beneficial
* Performance and target focused with experience of achieving KPIs
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
* Strong influencing skills, with experience of successfully working with trade unions and senior stakeholders
* Sound analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving skills
* Ability to plan, lead, and execute strategic initiatives in a complex environment
