Systems Operations Engineer (SysOps) with PHP Development Skills

Overview:
We are seeking a versatile SysOps Engineer to join our team, combining expertise in Linux sysops, network infrastructure, and ideally PHP develop
Your Skills & Qualifications:
Undergraduate level qualification in IT/CompSci/dev/engineering and/or 5+ years experience.
Strong expertise in Linux systems and network operations.
Proficiency in PHP development and scripting. Experience with NMS tools ideal.
Good understanding of network layers with a good engineering resilience mindset.
Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (VMWare/Proxmox) and advanced storage systems.
Demonstrate ability to implement robust security measures and disaster recovery plans
MikroTik RouterOS experience ideal but not essential - training can be provided.
Knowledge of BGP and OSPF ideal but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Linux System Operations:
Deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of Linux servers.
Virtualisation experience with VMWare or Proxmox, clustering & HA storage.
Ensuring system resilience, performance, and security.
* Network Operations:
MikroTik RouterOS experience
Wireless network deployment and management.
Advanced Layer 1-3 expertise: from Ethernet PHY and fibre SNR thresholds, to VLANs, PPPoE, RADIUS, VPNs, QoS, NetFlow and routing. Knowledge of BGP and OSPF .
* PHP Development & Scripting:
Development and maintenance of scripting and applications using PHP & MySQL.
Integration and automation of network and system monitoring tools.
Experience with APIs an advantage.
* Network Management Systems (NMS) - Ideal but not essential
Familiarisation of tools like LibreNMS, Cacti, and Nagios, Zabbix, Solarwinds etc.
Knowledge of SNMP and ability to create/maintain threshold-based alert systems.
* Infrastructure Management:
DNS: Caching vs authoritative, zone file management.
Physical server builds, storage knowledge: RAID, ZFS, NVMe. OOB hardware management.
* Security & Disaster Recovery:
Advanced firewall design, SIEM/XDR, and EDR systems. Familisation is useful.
Email security management: Proxmox Mail Gateway, Postfix, Dovecot, SPF, DKIM.
Disaster mitigation planning, ISO9001 conformance reporting, and incident management.
