Logisnext is seeking a dedicated Workshop Engineer to join our friendly team at our brand new facility in Walsall. In this pivotal role, the Workshop Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive preparation, repair and refurbishment of our materials handling equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous approach to engineering tasks, ensuring that all machinery meets our high standards of safety and efficiency, as per requirements.
The Workshop Engineer will work closely with our technical team to diagnose issues and implement solutions swiftly, thereby minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing operational performance. Key Responsibilities
* To assess material handling equipment for any transport-related damage.
* To install aftermarket components as needed, including electronic and hydraulic components, along with fitting masts and batteries.
* To construct and configure components for material handling equipment.
* Occasionally responsible for servicing and repairing various types of material handling equipment as necessary.
* To identify faults and execute repairs as needed, including troubleshooting.
* To accurately complete necessary administrative tasks, including documentation such as reports and timesheets.
* To ensure that all work is performed according to safety protocols and completed within designated timeframes.
* To maintain a clean and organized workspace as well as properly handled tools.
* To carry out paint repairs, including touch-ups and respraying, which requires a foundational understanding of painting techniques.
* Occasionally assist with logistics, including the scheduling of delivery trucks and unloading activities.
* To perform regular inventory assessments.
* Ability to conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) of new material handling equipment.
* Participation in ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Workshop Engineer position will meet the following qualifications:
* A qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is desirable but not essential.
* Proven experience in a workshop or heavy engineering environment, preferably within the materials handling sector, but not essential.
* Strong diagnostic skills with hands-on experience of mechanical and electrical systems.
* Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems will be advantageous.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
* Adherence to health and safety regulations and standards.
* A valid UK driving licence is preferred.
* Ability to fabricate and modify components if required
