Quantity Surveyor

Role Purpose
Working as a member of the commercial department and acting as a key pivotal role to the project team, you will be required to manage the full cost control elements of a project, including planning, change management, forecasting, and WIP reporting. Management of forecasting is essential and requires dedicated control of the monthly valuations upstream, to the client, and downstream to the sub-contractors and suppliers. As a member of the team, you will support the pre-construction team including contract wording reviews, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analysis. Writing reports and preparing documents (plans, contracts, budgets, etc.), dealing with risk analysis evaluations, and dispute resolution will also be part of your responsibilities.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. General Pre & Post Construction management.
2. Contract reviews upstream with the client, management, control of project contributions, and effective monthly monitoring and analysis.
3. Scope analysis of sub-contract packages including CDP reviews.
4. Cost / budget / margin project projections & management.
5. WIP reporting, including cash flow forecasting.
6. Profit Improvement Plans and Risk Management.
7. Client billing negotiations & justifications.
8. Management of change both internal & external ensuring contractual compliance.
9. Sub-contractor/partner appointments & price work negotiations.
10. Management of all purchase orders & invoices for suppliers.
11. Management of Contract Master & Contract Costing systems.
12. Customer engagement and Business Development.

Experience
1. 5+ years working in a QS role, with various construction contracts such as NEC3/4, JCT design and build, bespoke contracts.
2. Experience of working as a principal contractor.
3. Experience of working in a multi-discipline team and projects.
4. Experience of working on large multi-million-pound projects.
5. Proven track record of delivering successful commercial performance.
6. M & E experience preferred.
Qualifications
1. Minimum of HNC/HND level of education.
2. Dedicated QS qualification.
3. CSCS Card.
4. QS Professional Membership.
5. H&S Qualification desirable.
