The Projects and Improvements Manager is at the heart of Innovation for our Distribution and Fulfillment Centres. Working closely with Senior Leadership Teams and General Managers’s to focus on improving and executing great innovation to safeguard the future profitability of the company. Job Summary Manage the delivery of Improvement Projects within time and budget constraints. Partnering both internal and external resources to ensure successful delivery of sustainable improvement solutions across the European Distribution Network. Lead and develop a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring effective change management during the delivery of a project life cycle. Key Responsibilities Accountable for delivering agreed improvement solutions that drive business results from initialization through to implementation across distribution. Accountable for the successful delivery of projects through key stages of the project life cycle including, but not limited to, Define Project Success Criteria, Initialisation, Requirements Design, Build, Install and Implement. Assign priorities; set deadlines and co-ordinate activities with the Process Engineering Specialist, work-stream leads and/or subject matter experts ( SME's) in the successful delivery of projects. Review of project requirements to assess any impact upon existing business processes or operational targets prior to project delivery, notifying Senior Distribution Projects and Improvements Manager and key business stakeholders of such impacts to ensure appropriate approvals are granted ahead of project delivery. Monitor project activities and report on project status to ensure that assigned projects are completed on time, within approved budget, and provide desired business outcomes. Partner with TJX Global Procurement and Sourcing in the tendering, selection securement of contractual agreements with Third Parties involved in project delivery where applicable. Ensure works carried out by Third Parties involved in project delivery meet relevant legal and contractual obligations. Responsible for timely and effective project communication, management and reporting with all stakeholders and partners. Working with the Business during project warranty and post-project monitoring to ensure business benefits are realised. Assess impacts of change raised through the project life cycle and seek approval Accountable for the delivery plan and its associated critical path, ensuring work breakdown structures meet project objectives and deadlines. Accountable for delivering the financials, including baselines, forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation. Create strategies for issues and risk mitigation and contingency planning, for issues escalated by Stakeholders, SME’s and/or work-stream leads (including third parties). Responsible for ensuring that business interests are represented during the User Acceptance Testing, Implement/Close and Warranty stages of project delivery. Perform document assessments and provide document approvals as required. Accountable for ensuring changes to equipment, processes and/or new ways of working meet with Health and Safety legislation and are implemented in line with the Works Council and Unions across Europe. Train and partner Distribution leaders in Lean six sigma (LSS) methodology. Lead a culture of continuous improvement across all European Distribution sites Provide support to business during project implementations to resolve production incidents. Provide consultancy services and advice on how to use implemented systems. Agree Build/Installation and test plans, taking into account risks and project objectives. Manage execution of test plans and be accountable for resolution of test issues. Optimise test plans to ensure business risk is kept to a minimum. Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience Experience of Distribution, Retail or FMCG business projects. Strong organizational, presentation, and business partnering skills. Ability to multi-task and alter direction easily to accommodate changing priorities. Experience with PC based project management tools including MS Project, MS Word, Visio and MS Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3-5 years’ previous experience in project management. Formal Project Management Accreditation: Certification in LSS Black Belt (training can be given). 2-3 years’ experience in the application of M.O.S.T. (maynard operation sequence technique) is desirable. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of project delivery life cycle methodology and project management techniques is highly desirable. Ability to provide critical analysis to support the decision to proceed or not to proceed with the project. Experience of co-ordination and management of third parties including outsource relationships. Ability to influence at all levels. People leadership skills. Demonstrable proven track record of completing projects to the highest standard and on time. Proven ability to coach, train and transfer knowledge. Proven experience in change management. Must be fluent in English. A second European language is desirable. Willingness to travel throughout the UK PC’s and the Fulfilment Centre. Full driving licence is required. What's In It For You?
