Job summary We would like to invite applications for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Colorectal Surgery, based at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This post is for a Senior Trainee who has completed their General Surgery training to CCT level or equivalent (or are within 12 months of completion of CCT). More junior trainees will not be shortlisted. Fellows can expect a broad case mix including super-specialist and general colorectal surgery with a particular emphasis on IBD surgery including re-do IBD surgery, pouch surgery and minimally invasive approaches. The fellow will participate in the on-call rota at Specialty Registrar level (full shift, 1:10). Main duties of the job The fellow will benefit from consultant-led training in the operating theatre. However, the successful applicant will be an experienced clinician and is expected to be able to make independent clinical decisions and care for surgical patients on a daily basis. Consequently, they will be expected to lead ward rounds, initiate changes in patient management and communicate with patients, their families and the wider surgical team. They will participate in out-patient clinic sessions, theatre lists and teach foundation doctors/medical students as required. They will present patients and attend the IBD MDT and act as a key liaison team member between the Gastroenterology and Surgical Teams.
