The Role
This key post as a permanent (0.60 FTE), part time Design Technology teacher, is available from 1 September 2025, subject to satisfactory clearances.
We seek to appoint a talented teacher able to teach all the DT disciplines to KS3. The ability to teach Product Design or Hospitality and Catering to KS4 exam classes is essential. If you are a Product Design specialist, experience of electronics and the ability to teach Product Design to KS5 would be an advantage. A willingness to teach Health and Social Care at KS4 and KS5 may also be an advantage.
The Design Technology Faculty is a thriving, dynamic and supportive environment in which to work. The Design Technology Faculty currently offers Product Design, Textiles, Hospitality and Catering at KS4 and Product Design and Textiles at KS5 and regularly achieves outstanding results. The Faculty looks to innovate to provide exciting and novel learning experiences for their students. Our KS3 curriculum also includes the teaching of graphics, CAD/CAM and systems and control and ensures that the Design Technology department provides a forward thinking, modern, exciting approach. The School is committed to creative subjects as part of its Christian vision. We are also committed to gender equality within the field of DT. The department is well resourced with 8 specialist rooms and two technicians.

The School
St Mary Redcliffe and Temple (SMRT) is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.
Inspection Reports
The School was judged in April 2015 to be outstanding by Ofsted in each and every category. We were also judged outstanding in our last church school (SIAMS) inspection in March 2017. Despite this there is absolutely no sense of complacency. We are a forward-looking school with a relentless focus on providing the absolute best provision so that no child is left behind.
