Optometrist / Contact Lens Optician
This position is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract for an experienced Optometrist or Contact Lens Optician, working in the capacity of Professional Affairs Specialist.
Salary is up to £50K + Bonus
Ophthalmology experience is essential
Purpose of the Role:
The Professional Relations Specialist role is an integral part of the business, and instrumental in the development of the function and services provided.

As the Professional Relations Manager, you will be seen as the brand ambassador for the company. You will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the product portfolio, and through your clinical and commercial understanding of the market, you will identify, support, and lead initiatives to meet the objectives of the business.
Internal Relationships:
* Build and retain strong relationships with Marketing, Sales and EMEA Professional Services to ensure collaboration and alignment to business goals for the UKI & Nordics Cluster and EMEA.
* Ensure strong communication and best practice sharing across the UK/NORDIC/EMEA region.
Market Insight and UK Representation:
* Provide technical expertise & voice of the customer (VOC) to Sales & Marketing for all ECP facing promotional pieces & programs.
* Be the UK product ambassador at local and national congresses, be present at all key events as the main contact and interface for customers and Industry Partners. (Universities included)
* Represent the company at Industry-led Meetings and feedback to the UK Commercial, Regulatory and Marketing teams.
* Regularly gather insights on the industry through your own network and research methods and input in suitable format to the Sales and Marketing teams.
* Maintain the network of contacts within the industry to help build strong partnerships with the company.
Lead Internal and External Education:
* Deploy training programs for the company's strategic brands and ensure alignment to the business strategy and brand messaging.
* Build agenda content including peer review content for educational events across UKI.
* Adapt EMEA practice development and communication toolkits for use at local and national meetings.
* Deliver new educational ideas and initiatives designed to deliver against the business objectives.
Customer Interaction and KOL Development:
* Identify strategic opportunities to present educational and business content at key local and national customer meetings.
* Maintain a network of KOLs across the UK and organise round table meetings as appropriate and aligned to the EMEA strategy.
Clinical Evidence and Brand Support:
* Deploy EMEA produced claims for new and existing products aligned with the brand strategy and messaging.
* Source and check all referencing and deliver regular updates to the claims matrices.
* Be responsible for approving all content within the approval system.
* Provide input to the marketing team in the development and delivery of EMEA & UK / Nordics marketing campaigns.
Competitor Intelligence and Reporting:
* Regularly monitor competitor activity and report monthly to the UK and EMEA Professional Services and Marketing teams.
* Develop objection handling documents and regularly update with competitor information.
Sales Training and Support:
* Lead and deliver Technical Induction training for new starters.
* Provide ongoing technical training to the sales force to enhance executional excellence.
Regulatory and Compliance:
* Work with customer services and regulatory to provide technical and clinical input into customer complaint handling.
* Be timely and responsive to competitor challenge.
Experience:
* Strong understanding and experience of working in the Contact Lens and/or optical industry.
* Experience of working in a national/regional multiple and Independent practice with a keen established interest in developing business growth.
* Experience in a similar role within industry, e.g. occasional / part-time consultant for contact lens supplier.
* Experience of cross-functional working within a matrix environment.
* Able to travel within the UK and occasional cluster/EMEA meetings as required.
* Development and mobilisation of industry experts.
* Excellent writing & communication skills and strong competency in English (verbal & written).
* Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and commercial people at all levels, including major customers.
* Ability to prioritise work and manage own workload and others.
* Ability to deliver to tight deadlines in a results-oriented organisation.
* Able to quickly establish credibility amongst peers and develop networks.
