JOB ROLE: National Account Manager – Wholesale, Key National Accounts & New Business

REPORTING TO: Senior National Account Manager
Shepley Spring are the UK’s leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years’ experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day.
The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in West Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water, servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private labels, and produces the brands Ice Valley and White Rock exclusively.
Summary:
This is a brand-new opportunity for a seasoned Business Development and Account Manager to make their mark on a national level. The successful candidate will be crucial to Shepley Spring’s journey to achieving optimum national presence and reach within wholesale and key national accounts, as well as capitalise on new business opportunities. Shepley Spring is growing exponentially with investment in all production facilities to set the commercial team up for success. The opportunities are endless.
Reporting to the Senior National Account Manager, this role is the result of substantial growth across the business as well as the introduction of a new high speed production line and the opening of our 3rd site Q2 2025. We have long standing relationships within Wholesale and Grocery, and the role of the National Account Manager will be to nurture these as well as compliment them with new routes to market and opening up new channels and customers to deliver the next phase of exponential growth for Shepley Spring. Key responsibilities:
Develop and execute a sales strategy that delivers increases in growth and profitability.
Customer Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships at a National and Regional level
* Have a proven and demonstrable relationships within the Wholesale sector
* Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and business objectives
Business Development
* Identify opportunities for growth in new and existing national accounts and collaborate with our commercial team to profitably grow market share across all channels
* Continuously assess market trends, competitor activity and customer needs, to identify and execute new business opportunities
* Present sales, revenue and expense reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
Cross Functional Collaboration
* Coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service and management resources to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations
* Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment and collaboration on customer needs and objectives
Negotiations & Contract Management
* Negotiate contracts and tenders and close agreements to maximise profits
* Ensure contracts and agreements are compliant with company policies and regulations
Competencies:
* Minimum 5 years FMCG experience in a Business Development, Key Account, JNAM or NAM role
* Demonstrable experience having successfully hit Sales, Profit and Customer Service goals within the Wholesale, Grocery and Food Service channel
* Prior experience of executing multiple long-term tenders and JBP agreements
* Strategic thinker with strong implementation skills, able to lead internal stakeholders through growth initiatives
* Thorough understanding of the routes to market and key end-users and has demonstrated winning relationships at both levels
* Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to business challenges
* Excellent communicator, able to foresee potential issues and deliver solutions proactively
* An overall strategic thinker with a ‘bigger picture’ mentality and long-term planning and goal focus
* Have a first-class attitude and ability to ‘Find a Way’ in all situations
* Experience in either Soft Drinks or Private Label within the last 5 years (desirable)
