Project Manager-Toys
Purpose of the role
Working closely with the Director of Product, this role will play a key role in the development and execution of various toy products and ranges, from concept through to delivery. This position will be based in our Bath office and will require close collaboration with internal teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure products are launched on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for toys, children’s products, a strong project management background, and excellent communication skills.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead and manage toy product development projects from initial concept to final production.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Editorial, Development, Production and Marketing, to ensure seamless project execution.
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Communicate project goals, expectations, and timelines to all relevant stakeholders and ensure alignment across teams.
* Manage relationships with external suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
* Monitor project risks and issues and proactively develop solutions to mitigate them.
* Conduct market research and gather customer insights to guide product development and innovation.
* Liaise with the internal Compliance team to ensure all products meet relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
* Prepare and present regular project updates to senior management.
* Ensure required prototypes and sales material is created to agreed deadlines and is of a high standard.
* Create briefs for in-house creative team or external companies, agreeing budgets with the Director of Product and supplying contracts as required.
* Keep up to date with developments in the Children’s toy market, press and trends, and keep an awareness of competitor product.
* Assist the Director of Product with planning and preparation for strategic meetings and New Title Presentations.
* Work as part of the Curious Universe community to create a positive, tolerant and harmonious work environment.
* Deal with all staff in a helpful, courteous and respectful manner.
* Actively participate in the giving and receiving of constructive feedback to ensure understanding and open team relationships.
Skills & Experience
* A proven track record of 5+ years in project management, preferably in the toy, consumer goods, or a related industry.
* Experience in product development and creating innovative product.
* Strong understanding of the toy development process, from concept design to final production.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Solid experience in managing budgets and timelines to meet project goals.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* A passion for toys and children’s products, with a keen eye for quality and detail.
* Experience with sustainable or eco-friendly products is a bonus.
