The Black Country Alternative Provision (BCAP) aims to facilitate positive change in young people’s lives. We strive to overcome barriers to learning and to improve the outcomes for our students.

We aim to develop learners’ educational and personal potentials whilst supporting their reintegration and inclusion into full time education.
Black Country Alternative Provision launched in December 2024 and is Youth Engagement Schools’ (The YES Trust’s) newest establishment. The site is located in Wolverhampton and is comprised of two academies, The Kairos Academy (KS3-KS4 Alternative Provision) and The Vireo Academy (KS2-KS4 SEMH Alternative Provision and Home & Hospital School).
Job Description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
To operate a Reception Service (37 hrs per week, term time) that promotes a professional image of the School. To deliver administrative and general office services and provide information and support in an educational establishment setting.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Dealing with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner, in person, on the telephone or via e-mail.
2. Ensuring that face to face enquiries from visitors, parents, staff and pupils are dealt with appropriately.
3. To be responsible for the signing in of visitors to the school.
4. Organisation of external mail and distribution of incoming mail.
5. Reporting of any maintenance issues.
6. To manage all mini bus bookings.
7. To maintain and update all administrative and information systems and process as required, including retrieving and collating information to ensure delivery of a high level reception and administrative service.
8. To carry out such other administrative tasks and duties as required by the line manager appropriate to the grading of the post.
EXPERIENCE
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a similar role.
QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
•Very good numeracy/literacy skills.
•NVQ 3 or equivalent qualifications or experience.
•Willingness to undertake any training.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
1. Effective use of ICT and working knowledge of relevant software packages.
2. Excellent telephone manner.
3. Ability to plan and develop systems.
4. Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
5. Use of other equipment technology – scanner, photocopier.
6. Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
7. Ability to relate well to children and adults.
8. Work constructively as part of a team, understanding other roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
