This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on patient care across our hospital by working to support the delivery of care to patients requiring enhanced observation and therapeutic support.
We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual who is able to support the enhanced care team to deliver direct individualized and personalized patient care. The postholder will support junior staff and the wider care team to implement the delivery of quality nursing care, contributing to the physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual care in a recovery-focused way.
The postholder will lead on ensuring that the fundamentals of care are met - nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support - through therapeutic engagement and working to address any issues that arise.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.
2. Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
3. Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity, and drive continuous improvement.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Registered RMN Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register.
* Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD.
* Mentorship/Teaching Qualification.
* Hold non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards.
* Masters level education or working towards a degree related to mental health.
Experience
* Relevant post-registration experience within mental health acute admissions, PICU or forensics.
* Experienced and competent in the management of patients with mental health conditions or those experiencing psychological distress.
* Knowledge of psychosocial interventions, risk assessments and the principles of Care Programme Approach (CPA).
* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
* Experience of teaching/assessing/supervising others in a clinical setting.
* Supervision of junior staff.
* Experience of reducing the use of restrictive practices.
* Substantial experience at Band 5 or above including working in either liaison, psychiatry or crisis services.
Skills and Abilities
* Experience and can evidence advanced clinical skills and knowledge within adult mental health.
* Can conduct comprehensive assessments and care planning.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to manage and resolve complex caseload.
* Ability to work autonomously.
* Teaching and assessing skills.
* Sound IT skills and ability to maintain and create existing spreadsheets/databases.
