Job Title: Automotive Engineer (Door Sealing and Brightware) Location: Crewe, UK Job Type: Permanent Job Summary: Lead the mechanical design, development, and validation of automotive door sealing systems (aperture seals, primary/margin seals) and brightware components (cantrail, waistrail) from concept to SOP. Ensure compliance with functional requirements, cost, weight, and quality targets while driving innovation through client-aligned technology roadmaps. Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical design and development of door sealing and brightware systems (concept to SOP). Define system specifications, test plans, and validation protocols to meet project milestones. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure deliverables align with functional requirements. Develop technology roadmaps for door sealing/brightware systems, integrating client insights and emerging technologies. Manage design resources, suppliers, and timelines to achieve system requirements. Monitor engineering timelines, escalate critical issues, and present technical updates to stakeholders. Ensure adherence to automotive industry standards for durability, NVH performance, and aesthetics. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (or equivalent). Experience: 5 years in leading door sealing and brightware development (automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier). 10 years in end-to-end automotive product development (minimum 2 full product cycles ). Technical Skills: Expertise in door sealing materials (rubber, thermoplastics), manufacturing processes (extrusion, molding), and brightware design (metal finishing, corrosion resistance). Proficient in CATIA V5 for 3D modeling and GD&T. Strong understanding of automotive product lifecycles and regulatory compliance (e.g., water ingress, wind noise standards).
