Job Overview
Applications are invited from competent Operating Department Practitioners and Staff Nurses who wish to provide dynamic support to the theatre team. We have vacancies in Anaesthetics and Recovery.
The operating department in the Trauma and Theatre Centre includes 17 in-patient theatres plus the Surgical Day Unit (3 GA theatres). There are two recovery areas within main theatres and one within the Surgical Day Unit, as well as a recovery area within the new Paediatric Day facility. At Friarage Hospital Northallerton, the operating department comprises 6 main in-patient theatres, a minor ops theatre, and a recovery area.
Main Duties of the Job
The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialties:
1. General Surgery
2. Gynaecology
3. Urology/Vascular/Obstetrics
4. Plastic Surgery
5. Orthopaedics/Maxillofacial/Neurosurgery
6. ENT
There is also provision for dedicated emergency theatres within the complex and services to satellite areas such as MRI, CT, ECT, and Stent room, plus support to A&E.
The Centre is committed to staff development and offers a good competency-based training package. As the main tertiary centre within the Tees Valley, candidates will have the opportunity to develop their theatre skills in an exciting multi-specialty environment. Good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to this post.

Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge and experience of providing person-centred care
* Commitment to evidence-based practice
* Ability to use initiative to make decisions within the sphere of work and/or knowledge, recognizing where assistance is required
Qualifications
* RN or ODP with an active professional registration with either the RCN or HCPC
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Operating Department Practice
