DWP is hiring for a Clinical Lead, with a comprehensive understanding of Personal Independence Payment benefit (PIP).
You’ll be part of our Controls and Assurance Division within the Contract Management & Partner Delivery Directorate (CMPD).
DWP are responsible for welfare policy and provide support to disabled people and those with health conditions.
You’ll lead, support and develop a team of experienced clinicians to audit and assure the work of 4 external suppliers, who currently undertake PIP assessments with UK Citizens on behalf of DWP.
Our team audit and uphold the clinical quality of those assessments. In simple terms we are DWP’s clinical quality assurance.
We ensure that the assessments deliver the policy as intended, and ensures fair outcomes for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
You’ll be the lead for this area, so you’ll represent the work we do to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll need to be confident in articulating complex clinical information to a variety of audiences/disciplines.
You’ll also identify themes and trends through analysing audit outcomes, ensuring we can provide clinically accurate and actionable feedback to our suppliers, providing the best standard and consistency of service to UK citizens.

As Clinical Lead - PIP, you’ll support and develop an independent team of experienced clinical qualified professionals who deliver comprehensive audits of our PIP suppliers. Your team constructively critiques the quality of health assessments and associated reports, ensuring accurate clinical judgement is fairly applied, in accordance with DWP policy.
You will be an active member of the Controls and Assurance Division (CAD) senior leadership team, contributing to wider divisional issues, providing appropriate advice, guidance and influencing best practice with colleagues.

We are an established team which is situated across a number of locations across the UK.
It is expected that you will travel from time to time with occasional overnight stays to connect with your team and colleagues. (Travel/Accommodation can be expensed in accordance with DWP Policy).
