Job summary
This is a fixed term locum post for 12 months pending advertising and appointing to a new substantive post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 core programmed activities (PAs) including: labour ward sessions, antenatal clinic, ELCS lists, and a maternal medicine MDT. There is the opportunity to also undertake a fetal medicine session.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join an established multidisciplinary team with arange of gynaecology and obstetrics specialist skills and experience,including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, recurrent miscarriage, fertilityservices, endometriosis, urogynaecology, antenatal clinics fordiabetes, perinatal mental health, multiple pregnancy, pretermdelivery, bereavement, day assessment, post-natal care, fetalmedicine. The post holder will strengthen the maternal medicine andhigh risk obstetrics services.

Job responsibilities
To provide clinical leadership and expertise in Obstetrics, maternal medicine and perinatal mental health. Participate in continuing medical education and training of junior medical staff, consultant colleagues, nurses, medical students and colleagues in primary care. Participate in the on call Obstetric rota and the day time labour ward care provision and ward rounds Ensure the following sessions are covered by a colleague for leave: labour ward, on call, antenatal ward round, ELCS list. Providing clinical leadership for high risk pregnancies Providing clinical leadership and expertise in Obstetrics supportingnursing and midwifery teams. Maintenance of high quality patient centred care Shared responsibility for the day to day management of the service and participation in strategic planning Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity

5. Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register

8. Broad Obstetrics experience including maternal medicine
9. ATSM, Contingent SITM or equivalent in advanced labour ward practice
10. Other ATSMs or specialist training that supports the departmental needs
11. Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
12. Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice

13. Experience in Obstetric ultrasound scanning or fetal medicine
14. Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals
