Engineering Director – A Transformational Leadership Opportunity in Power Engineering
Location: Hybrid (with a preference for Central England as a home base)
This is more than a senior leadership role – it’s your chance to shape the future of a growing engineering organisation poised for significant expansion. As Engineering Director, you’ll be at the heart of a transformative journey, helping drive strategic growth, technical innovation, and operational excellence across an evolving portfolio of projects.
The business is ready to scale. Backed by a clear and ambitious five-year plan, this role calls for someone who can manage, develop, and inspire a highly skilled engineering team while also creating a new technical function designed to support emerging sectors and global opportunities. Whether it’s pioneering work in IEC61850, large-scale transmission projects, or entering new geographies, this is a chance to lead from the front and help shape what’s next.
You’ll take the reins of an established UK engineering team, bringing clear direction and high standards, while also playing a key role in building a brand-new team with fresh capabilities – potentially spanning international locations. Collaboration is central to the role. You’ll work cross-functionally with business development, support technical sales, and help strengthen relationships with clients in transmission, renewable energy, and industrial sectors.
Your insight will also be vital in driving new product and service offerings, representing the company at key industry forums and conferences, and aligning multi-year development plans with real-world execution. You’ll actively explore new technologies and forge strong links with utilities, academia, and OEMs, helping the organisation stay ahead of the curve in a fast-moving industry.
With 15 to 20 years of experience in control, protection, and automation – and a proven track record leading teams of 10–15 people – you bring both technical authority and inspirational leadership. A degree in electrical or electronics engineering is essential, but beyond qualifications, we’re looking for someone with vision, commercial acumen, and the drive to build something lasting.
Flexibility to travel is key – expect to spend 2–3 days a week visiting customers or the factory, with occasional overseas trips when needed. It’s a hands-on role that puts you at the centre of strategic decision-making and technical delivery.
If you're ready to step into a role where your leadership will have lasting impact – where your ideas will be heard and your experience will shape the future – this is your opportunity. Join a forward-thinking business on a mission to grow, evolve, and lead the way in power engineering.
