Faculty of Science School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics Senior Research Associate Ref: RA2272 Salary on appointment will be £37,999 per annum, with an annual increment up to £45,163 per annum. Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Associate to join the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics to work with Professor Vanessa Miemietz on the EPSRC funded project 2-Representation Theory of Soergel Bimodules, EP/Z533750/1. As a Senior Research Associate you will be associated with a particular project and will contribute ideas and/or enhancement of techniques and methodologies. You will analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of researchers and teaching of students within the School. You will have a postgraduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant research area. You will also have publications in respected journals or high-quality prepublication in the area. You will be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills directly relating to this research area would be advantageous, in particular knowledge and skills in diagrammatic categorification, category theory, representation theory and triangulated categories. This full-time post is available from 1 April 2025 on a fixed term basis for 36 months.
