We’re on the lookout for an Automation Engineer to join our IT Operations Team. The role is a hybrid role, therefore will involve a mix of working from home and also from our Halifax office. The IT Operations team is crucial in helping Covéa Insurance achieve its overall business strategy and objectives. They are responsible for understanding, developing, and testing to: Implement all necessary changes to support our business areas in achieving their goals. Execute strategic projects that enable the long-term business strategy for Covéa Insurance. IT Operations underpin all products and services across trading, claims, data, and back-office platforms, ensuring high levels of service and quality. What will I be doing? Undertake the design, development and implementation of automation frameworks and solutions applying knowledge of modern test-driven development (TDD), behaviour-driven development (BDD) and automation test best practices to identify defects at the earliest opportunity. Maintain automation test suites for functional, regression and performance testing. Collaborate with and learn from peers across all disciplines to ensure effective communication and alignment in understanding functional and non-functional requirements to create automated test packs that follow best practice and coding standards in line with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Work alongside the IT Principals and the Leads to understand, support, and continuously improve best practice by inputting into automation standards, methodologies, toolsets, technologies, and testing ways of working where appropriate. following a shift left approach to all aspects of testing so that planning, designing and execution of tests can be carried out early in the SDLC to ensure defects and risks can be identified early and mitigated where possible. designing and maintaining test strategies that are robust, reusable, and scalable. contributing to test documentation and artefacts to agreed standards. Collaborate with peers and operational teams to integrate security testing into the SDLC. Guide and support Automation and Software Engineers, acting as a champion of automation, and enable them to follow best practices and the appropriate governance requirements. Advocate an Automation First attitude by identifying opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and to support regression testing across all products and platforms. Monitor and report on testing progress to stakeholders as required. You should apply if you have… Test automation skills and experience with web browser tools and frameworks (Selenium webriver.io) and/or web service/API using REST and SOAP. Attention to detail and a commitment to developing secure, resilient automation projects, including reviewing code for bugs, security vulnerabilities, performance issues and adherence to coding standards, design patterns, and best practices. Good analytical and problem-solving abilities including finding defects, troubleshooting, and reporting issues. Ability to communicate and document technical and non-technical concepts. Ability to proactively engage and influence your stakeholders, being respectful of their needs, knowledge, and interest. Willingness to incorporate constructive feedback from peers to improve testing processes reviews, demonstrating a desire to improve and adapt. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities. Always behaves consistently and with integrity, being able to provide guidance and support to colleagues with less experience by sharing well thought through suggestions. Previous experience as an Automation Engineer, Software Engineer, or QA Test Analyst with a passion for the role and technology. Hands on experience creating test frameworks in a .Net / C# development environment. Experience in maintaining and working with CI/CD pipelines and tools. Good understanding of TDD, BDD testing approaches. Certified to Foundation ISTQB level, or similar professional qualifications, preferred.
