Job Description: Marketing and Events Assistant
Position Title: Marketing and Events Assistant
Reports to: BID Manager
Hours: 32 spread over 4 days, Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, rotas created 6 weeks in advance. Weekends and evenings required as per the needs of the BID, however regular office hours for the most part.
1. Marketing Support
1. Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote the BID and its events.
2. Help create and distribute marketing materials (flyers, posters, email campaigns, press releases).
3. Maintain and update the BID’s website, social media, and App with news, events, and business promotions.
4. Monitor and track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns through analytics and reporting tools.
5. Assist in maintaining relationships with local businesses to encourage participation in marketing initiatives.
6. Confidently sell advertising space to businesses in key locations and in BID materials.
7. Assist in the creation of a monthly newsletter.
2. Social Media Management
1. Manage and update the BID’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn).
2. Create engaging content, including graphics, photos, and videos, to promote events, local businesses, and BID updates.
3. Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to comments and messages, and foster community interaction.
4. Develop and maintain a social media content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
5. Stay updated on social media trends and tools to optimise performance and engagement.
6. Create workshops and group sessions, as well as one-to-one coaching on marketing for our BID businesses.
3. Event Coordination
1. Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of BID events such as street festivals, community cleanups, and business promotions.
2. Help promote events through social media, email campaigns, and other marketing channels.
3. Assist in recruiting and managing volunteers for events.
4. Attend BID events and provide on-site support as needed.
4. Administrative Tasks
1. Provide administrative support to the BID Manager, including issuing invoices, responding to inquiries, and preparing reports.
2. Maintain a database of BID members, event attendees, and vendors.
3. Assist in managing the budget for marketing and event activities, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
5. Community Engagement
1. Act as a point of contact for local businesses and community members regarding marketing and event-related inquiries.
2. Support efforts to engage the local community, businesses, and other stakeholders in BID initiatives.
6. Qualifications
1. Ideally, a degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Planning, music management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 1-2 years of experience in marketing, social media management, or event planning (paid or unpaid).
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Customer service experience.
5. Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter) and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
6. Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
8. Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
9. A passion for Worthing, community engagement, and local business support.
10. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
