Emergency Planning Manager £250-£300 per day South London A local authority is seeking an experienced and proactive Emergency Planning Manager to lead its preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. This role will ensure compliance with statutory duties while developing and maintaining emergency response and recovery plans in collaboration with multi-agency partners. Role Overview The Emergency Planning Manager will be responsible for ensuring the Council's resilience to emergencies and disruptions. This includes overseeing business continuity planning, event safety processes, and risk management while ensuring alignment with the Resilience Standards for London. The postholder will provide expert advice to senior leadership, develop emergency response capabilities, and promote community and business resilience. Key responsibilities include: Managing and developing the Council's Business Continuity programme in line with industry standards (ISO 22301). Leading the Safety Advisory Group and ensuring compliance with best practices in event safety planning. Providing strategic resilience advice to senior leadership during incidents. Maintaining the Borough Risk Register and ensuring emergency plans are regularly reviewed and tested. Engaging with the community and businesses to promote awareness and preparedness. Contributing to London-wide emergency planning initiatives and multi-agency coordination. Person Specification The successful candidate will have: Experience in emergency planning, business continuity, or a related field. A strong understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and relevant resilience standards. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. The ability to lead, manage projects, and provide strategic advice under pressure. Experience in training, coaching, and developing emergency response teams. An understanding of local government structures and decision-making processes.
