Overview of the position
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team! As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of our engineering strategies and processes. You will also be responsible for the management and development of our engineering team. The delivery team within the business has two departments – Projects and Engineering. The Engineering department comprises of Pre-Planned Maintenance, Service & Small Works up to a typical value of £25k. The successful candidate will take day to day management of the department whilst continuing to lead from the front, working in the field 70% of the time and becoming the line manager for staff employed within; taking on a senior management position within the business.
Responsibilities
1. Leading and line managing the engineering team
2. Coordinating with contractors and suppliers
3. Directing and supporting the evaluation of projects
4. Managing the resolution of any delays
5. Hiring and training new engineering staff
6. Managing process improvements
7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
8. Managing materials and equipment budget
9. Ensuring quality of work carried out by engineering staff and sub-contractors complies with NSI Gold requirements
10. Carrying out spot checks each week for attendance and quality of workmanship
11. Managing and delegating engineering escalations within the department
12. Attending monthly management meetings to both contribute and work with the other senior managers within the business
13. Managing and delegating small works projects to project engineers/installation engineers and/or sub-contractors where required
14. Meeting clients with the Small Works Managers when required
15. Ensuring consistency of installation and service delivery across the customer base in line with industry standards, company working practices and procedures
16. Ensuring a safe and secure working environment at all times for our own employees and those of our customers
17. Ensuring approved sub-contractors and suppliers are performance/compliance monitored in order to maintain approval listing
Key Performance Indicators
Ensure bi-annual appraisals are carried out for all engineering staff within the department.
Key Account retention through monthly KPI documents being 80% +.
Job sheets to be completed on target margins.
Staff retention within the department.
Ensuring the safety of staff on site.
Person Specification
Experience of dealing with corporate and global accounts is essential.
Ideally, the candidate should have knowledge of both fire and security systems.
A desirable Engineering Manager is someone who coordinates engineering projects and leads an engineering team.
Experience in engineering is required along with:
