Job Description:
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading provider of maintenance and repair services within the aerospace industry, for the position of Buyer. Our client is known for their commitment to excellence and sustainability, with a strong reputation for delivering top-quality services across multiple sites in the United Kingdom.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Identifying opportunities to reduce costs by centralising purchasing activities and leveraging spend across multiple sites.
2. Recording cost savings and reporting them to management for review.
3. Monitoring and progressing open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
4. Addressing stock shortages and adjusting inventory levels as necessary.
5. Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and updating supplier contact records in the database.
6. Sourcing spare parts on the open market, including higher assemblies for parts teardown, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
7. Managing internal purchase requisitions and procuring non-stock commercial products, using the e-procurement system to streamline spend through group-wide suppliers.
8. Conducting weekly reviews of inventory reports and purchasing pharmaceutical products for specific business units.
9. Assisting in the resolution of delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies.
10. Arranging the return of supplier products according to the company’s returns policy, and capturing data on quality and delivery performance for supplier assessments.
11. Supporting the engineering team with the costing of spares, tooling, and consumables for various projects.
12. Participating in daily meetings to provide accurate product information and support business units effectively.
Experience and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
1. Experience in purchasing technical products and services within an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment.
2. Proficiency in MRP purchasing and stock management systems.
3. Strong experience in fostering and managing supplier relationships.
4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyse and manipulate large data sets to generate reports and insights.
5. The ability to read and understand technical drawings and product specifications.
