We are recruiting for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist with skills in Blood Sciences, who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Lister Pathology department is looking for a Full-time HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in the Pathology services at East and North Hertfordshire Trust, in the Blood Sciences department.
Duties will include routine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the various analysers in both departments. We are a multi-discipline laboratory and cross-training is encouraged in other blood science disciplines.
Staff development is vital to the organisation, and support will be provided to become a multidisciplinary member of staff within the Blood Sciences department.
The post holder would take part in the 24-hour shift system, consisting of 8 hr and 12 hr shifts, including nights once trained.

Duties involve:
1. Processing specialist investigations in the department.
2. Providing specialist advice to clinicians as to the appropriateness of tests and timescales.
3. Delivering specialist services, e.g., training, problem-solving for specialist requirements.
4. Working independently and leading on a specialist area as directed by Lead BMS.
5. Acting as a mentor for more junior scientific and support staff.
6. Working flexibly in reflection of service needs, which may include an extended working day and/or participation in the delivery of a 24-hour, 7 days per week service.
