The Interventional Radiology (DSA) Suite is one of the specialist modalities within the Department of Medical Imaging. The service currently operates Monday to Friday 08.30 to 17.00 plus an emergency out of hours on call service including evenings and weekends.
The modality specializes in interventional procedures such as vascular angiography, nephrostomies, biliary stenting, embolization, ultrasound guided biopsies, diagnostic coronary angiography and pacemaker insertion, to name just a few. The nursing team is also responsible for assisting with the care of patients attending other Medical Imaging modalities such as CT, ultrasound and the main x-ray department. Finally, we also provide the Radiology nurse/radiographer led vascular access service for the Trust.
The Interventional Radiology (DSA) Suite is a very exciting, dynamic and interesting place to work. The post holder will be part of a small, established team of nurses, radiographers, Consultants and support staff who are all committed to providing our patients with the highest possible standard of care.
Main duties of the job
Ideally, you should be competent in the clinical skill of intravenous drug administration; however, additional training and support will be provided for the right candidate. This is a rare opportunity for nurses looking to expand their knowledge and skills in the specialism of interventional radiology as we offer a comprehensive training programme within a supportive learning environment. You will learn a range of skills as a scrub nurse, circulating nurse and in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-recovery care of patients undergoing interventional radiology and cardiology procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show a keen interest in the future development of the profession and imaging services.
On completion of all competencies, you will be required to take part in the emergency out of hours on call rota which includes nights, weekends and bank holidays. In addition, the Medical Imaging service is working towards an extended working day/week in line with the NHS Plan; therefore, a flexible approach is essential.
If you are enthusiastic, motivated, and ready for a new challenge and are interested in becoming part of our friendly multidisciplinary team, we would love to hear from you.
