Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Electrical Bias) to lead and manage a high-profile project in Leiston, Suffolk. The project involves the construction and upgrade of a 132Kv/11Kv substation, including drainage, foundations, structural steelwork, and general building works, as well as overseeing a 132Kv cable route, incorporating duct laying, cable pulling, and jointing.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex electrical infrastructure projects and ensuring successful delivery within budget, time, and safety requirements. Weekend and night work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle from planning to execution and completion.
Electrical Infrastructure Expertise: Manage electrical works, including substation build, high-voltage cable installation, and associated civil works.
Contract & Budget Management: Ensure project delivery within the agreed budget and contractual obligations.
Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment with requirements and expectations.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with HSE regulations and company safety policies.
Scheduling & Reporting: Develop detailed project schedules, track progress, and provide regular reports to senior management.
Resource Management: Oversee the workforce, subcontractors, and material procurement to meet project timelines.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
Quality Control: Ensure all electrical and civil works are completed to the highest quality standards.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager in electrical infrastructure projects, particularly high-voltage substations and cabling.
Strong technical background in 132Kv/11Kv substations and associated cable route installations.
In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations, HSE compliance, and quality standards.
Experience managing civil works, including drainage, foundations, and structural steelwork.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong ability to manage project budgets, contracts, and schedules effectively.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and nights, as required.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
IOSH/NEBOSH qualification (preferred).
TP137 (National Grid Person/Competent Person) certification (desirable).
Experience working on National Grid or DNO (Distribution Network Operator) projects.
