Job summary The Gynaecology Cancer Pathway Failsafe Officer is responsible for monitoring and updating patients on the patient tracking list (PTL). The post holder will ensure that the patients under the care of the Gynaecology department are safe and auditable. It is also the post holder's responsibility to ensure that all staff within the department are aware of their failsafe responsibility. Failsafe is a mechanism, which ensures that the service is accountable for its actions and to ensure that processes are in place so that patients do not come to harm. It is also there to ensure that if something does go wrong within the system, processes are in place to identify what is going wrong and to ensure that there is a safe outcome. The Failsafe Officer will provide the interface between clinicians, supporting staff and patients to support the Gynaecology team to develop and maintain risk stratification as per the Harm Review policy for management of the patient pathways and follow up requirements. The post is required to support the Business Support Manager to oversee the day to day management plans for Gynaecology Cancer and high risk pathway patients through liaison with clinicians for: o Investigations o Treatment plan o Review and assessments o Ongoing treatments o Follow up Main duties of the job The main duties of this post are detailed within the attached job description / person specification.
