Clinical Specialist Nurse/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist
The North London Partners (NLP) have developed Perinatal Mental Health Services in North Central London across the five boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. The service has been running since 2017.
The Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service (SPMHS) is a multi-disciplinary community mental health service for pregnant and postnatal women and birthing people with mental illness. The aim of the team is to detect, prevent and treat perinatal mental health problems to improve the experiences of pregnancy and the two years postpartum for service users and their families.
Staff work closely with the five maternity sites in North Central London; University College London Hospital, Whittington Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital and North Middlesex University Hospital. Clinics run at maternity sites, children's centres and community centres across the boroughs as well as home visits.
The model consists of an Administrative Hub and operates with 3 clinical sub-teams;
-East team (Enfield & Haringey)
-South team (Camden & Islington)
-West team (Barnet)
There are two roles:
Role 1 - is based in the East team (Enfield and Haringey). The postholder will work from the East Team base in N9 7HD.
Role 2 - is based across the South Team (Camden and Islington). the post holder will work in NW1 0AS.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be supported and supervised by the band 7 senior perinatal clinicians in the Perinatal Service to carry out, a high number of comprehensive new patient assessments and manage a caseload of patients in line with the requirements of the service line operational policy and service line strategy and that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.
In carrying out this role the post holder will make best use of the resources available to them; ensuring that at all times best use is made of health and social care resources to assist recovery and re-enablement.
The post holder will support governance and audit within the team, ensuring that service delivery focuses on the quality agenda and that dignity, privacy and respect is afforded at all times to service users.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Diploma or degree leading to professional Registered qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work
* Current registration with relevant professional body
* Evidence of recent and or on-going post registration academic study relevant to practice
* CBT qualification or other relevant qualification i.e., solution focused therapy, cognitive stimulation therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy etc.
Experience
* Clinical experience with clients suffering from mental health conditions across a range of care settings, including community, primary care, outpatient, and inpatient settings
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
* Experience of working in different cultural contexts.
* Demonstrable understanding and experience of utilising a variety of assessment tools as well as service specialist tools currently used in practice in relation to assessing / planning care needs and determining risk
* Post-qualification experience working with women in the perinatal period with severe and enduring mental health needs as well as their families, carers and networks
Skills and Abilities
* Skills in the use of a range of methods of assessment, intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health services.
* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Ability to form good working relationships with others in a multidisciplinary setting.
Knowledge
* Practical experience of patient / service user care and engagement within the wider context of the organisation
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of their own role and that of others within the multi-professional team
