We are looking for dynamic, passionate, Senior Health Care Assistants to join the team on Children’s Outpatients as well as some other wards across Child Health.
You will be required to work closely with the nursing and multidisciplinary team to provide care and support to children accessing services at Variety Children’s Hospital.
You will be working with various specialities across child health to assist in the delivery of a variety of procedures and treatments.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will:
1. Assist under supervision, with the delivery of fundamental nursing care in liaison with nursing and multi-disciplinary team.
2. Assist with clinical duties to ensure effective running of the department or ward.
3. Monitor and record patients clinical observations and escalate as required.
4. Ensure ward/department is appropriately stocked at all times.
5. Undertake clinical skills such as completion of ECGs, venepuncture, Nasogastric tube feeding.
6. Complete point of care testing such as HbA1c, blood glucose testing.
7. Assist families and carers including escorting to other departments and orientating to ward/department as required.
8. Assist with administrative tasks within the ward/department to ensure effective delivery of care.
9. Assist with maintaining infection control, hygiene and cleanliness.
10. Develop additional skills with further training provided by the team.
