Fabricator / Welder / Sheet Metal Worker / Production Operative with experience in MIG Welding and Metal Fabrication in a Production / Manufacturing environment, with the ability to read technical manufacturing drawings, is required for a well-established company based in Birkenhead, Wirral, Merseyside, North West England.
SALARY: £14 per Hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Fabricator / Welder / Sheet Metal Worker / Production Operative with experience in MIG Welding and Metal Fabrication in a Production / Manufacturing environment.
Working as a Fabricator / Welder / Sheet Metal Worker / Production Operative you will join the Metal Department, working predominantly within the fabrication section manufacturing a variety of mild steel metal components between 1.6mm and 5mm ensuring high quality and precision from start to finish. Working across the whole manufacturing area including Final Assembly to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the Metal & Final Assembly Production, to ensure that goods and services are produced on time, on quality and in full to meet the quality standards set by the business.
As a Fabricator / Welder / Sheet Metal Worker / Production Operative your role will involve reading technical drawings and following drawing instructions to manufacture the final products. Understanding technical drawings, and learning new systems is an integral part of the role.
DUTIES
The role responsibilities of the Fabricator / Welder / Sheet Metal Worker / Production Operative are to assist the Production Manager in the daily operations of a busy steel workshop and daily general operation and production of the Metal Department to ensure all the following requirements are always met:
1. Use of power tools such as drills, angle grinders, chop saws
2. Use of fabrication machinery such as the brake press, sheet metal roller, box pan folder, guillotines, pipe bender
3. Preparing Materials for fabrication, cutting, tacking, folding & bending
4. Preparing parts for powder coating
5. Powder coating operations
6. Operating to Metal Procedures, Metal Fault Finding, Final Assembly, Manufacturing & Final Despatch
7. Assembly and Customer Service Communication
8. Undertaking training to self-develop skills in the Metal Department including training and development, appraisals, communication, structures by setting & maintaining a team culture
9. Ensuring the Metal Department is fit for purpose and presented to an excellent, professional standard to satisfy ISO:9001:2015 Quality Standards
10. Resolving the Metal Department technical issues & processes, including maintenance, problem solving and dealing with Quality issues accordingly
11. Liaising with all personnel in Metal, Metal Production, Cutting & Welding-PVC, Design, Commercial, Customer Service, Logistics & Quality Environment Health & Safety to achieve set goals & objectives of the business adhering to Health & Safety Standards throughout the business
12. Utilising the business systems i.e., People HR, QT9 & ISO Systems & Processes in the Metal Departments
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
1. Experience working in a fast-paced Production/Manufacturing environment
2. Experience in MIG Welding
3. Experience with sheet metal working & fabrication
4. Experience in reading technical/manufacturing drawings (preferably in SolidWorks)
5. A positive individual with a ‘can do’, results driven approach and attitude.
6. Building excellent internal and external relationships
7. Managing multiple priorities and coping when under pressure
8. Excellent teamwork and co-operation skills
9. The ability to work under pressure in busy times

Desirable
1. Intermediate level using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP & Database Systems
2. A qualification in Mig Welding/Fabrication NVQ Level 2
3. Knowledge of or experience in Kaizen/continuous development
4. 6S/Lean Manufacturing knowledge would be advantageous
5. Experience using press brake and in powder coating
6. Good literacy, numeracy and verbal communication skills and IT literate
