About the Role
This role is a great opportunity to lead and develop a range of public protection activities for the benefit of our residents, businesses and visitors. Situated at the heart of Greater Manchester, Trafford stretches from the Inner City through vibrant towns and suburbs to an attractive rural area. The Borough includes world class Sporting venues at Manchester United and Lancashire Cricket Club, one of the nation’s largest concentration of businesses at Trafford Park and the major retail and leisure destination of the Trafford Centre.
Against this complex and dynamic landscape, the role has responsible for a range of regulatory and public protection functions including Environmental Health, Sportsground Safety, Licensing, Trading Standards, Building Control, Community Safety & Emergency Planning. The post will also contribute to the wider operation of Place based services and close liaison with a wide range of external partners.
About you
You will be an experienced public protection professional with a commitment to service improvement and the effective operation and coordination of Local Authority regulatory functions. You will work collaboratively with other services and external partners, taking personal responsibility to resolve issues to make a difference to our communities.
You’ll also be able to demonstrate experience in managing and developing staff, alongside leadership abilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience of the regulation of major sporting events and business/leisure venues or of building control will be an advantage.

Additional Information
As a Head of Service role occasional evening working will be required to attend Council, public or business meetings.
