Job Description
Contributing to the success of the transport team, you will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day to day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.
As a Transport Planner you will be playing a central role in creating effective transport plans for our customers within the wider Stobart network, whilst complying with legal responsibilities.
Working hours: Monday - Friday
Salary: £31,720 per annum
1. Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our state-of-the-art transport software
2. Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU drivers’ hours regulations)
3. To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time managing resources effectively; maximising utilisation whilst minimising cost
4. Ensure that our internal tracking systems are kept organised and updated to an exceptional standard
5. Make regular use of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency
6. Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing)
7. Constantly communicate with our customer service teams and drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained
Qualifications
8. Good geographical knowledge of the UK
9. Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Work and Outlook
10. CPC Desirable but not required
11. Experience of planning 100+ tractor units across multiple depots
12. Excellent communication skills and ability to succeed in a pressurised environment
13. Customer focus on delivery performance
14. Commercially and Financially astute and driven to deliver exceptional results.
15. Experience of using a TMS system
16. Experience in an FMCG environment
17. Strong analytical and excel capability across standard formulasv
