The Decontamination services are used by the Trust's many wards, departments, theatres, and also external health care providers and are supplied with clean laundry and linen, sterile surgical instruments, scopes, and soft packs for safe patient use.
Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leading and mentoring our Decontamination Technician team – including day-to-day management in all duties performed, ensuring team objectives are met, creating rotas, and supporting with urgent requirements.
2. Assisting the Management Team in the training/development of staff to ensure departmental standard operating procedures are adhered to, allowing staff to conduct their duties within the scope of the Quality Management System BS EN ISO9001, ISO13485, and JAG.
3. Form part of the Quality Control team and assist in general auditing duties and perform a full range of decontamination duties. You will need to be able to work fluently with Microsoft Word and Excel packages to perform duties using electronic spreadsheets and databases.
4. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the daily testing and logging of equipment.
Working for our organisation
A Decontamination Supervisor can work within the Hospital Sterilisation Disinfection Unit, Endoscopy Scope Decontamination, and the Laundry Services Department across Burnley General and Royal Blackburn teaching Hospitals.
Who we're looking for:
* Experience of working within a similar role would be advantageous with proven people management experience
* Understanding of ISO13485 or a willingness to learn this
* Must be accurate and have a strong desire for attention to detail
* Please note, although this role is being advertised by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, it will transfer to OneLSC a Corporate Collaboration hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust on 1.11.24. There are no plans to change the location of the role.

Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification or GCSE grade 4-9/grades A*, A, B, C qualification or equivalent qualification in Math’s and English
* IT skills – Microsoft Word and Excel
* To undertake E-Learning in Decontamination and/or NVQ in Customer Care or equivalent in Sterile Services Field
Experience
* Previous Supervisory experience
* In-depth knowledge of sterilisation/decontamination practices, HTM01-01
* Extensive previous experience in HSDU environment
Knowledge and Skills
* Able to understand and follow spoken instructions, comply with detailed work procedures and training.
* Observe and comply with legislation
* Ability to count, record numbers and read, follow detailed work instructions.
