The ideal candidate will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from conceptualisation to production. This includes developing detailed 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks, managing subcontractors, and collaborating with engineering teams. You will create comprehensive technical documentation, including sales drawings, bills of materials, and operational manuals. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential for liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders. The role also involves cost estimation, procurement, and supporting R&D initiatives, and R&D Rebates.
Responsibilities
* Complete detailed 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks.
* Where applicable manage all 3rd party subcontractors to aid final design.
* During the build process conduct phased design reviews with mechanical / electrical engineering.
* Complete 2D sales drawings to support customer quotations and diagrams using Draft sight.
* Attend Concept meetings and support Pre Sales Quotations by providing an estimated for material based on design in question.
* Liaise with suppliers to spec components and investigate new technology and systems.
* Produce Bill of Materials.
* Procure materials based on BoM.
* Update and maintain drawing project files.
* Produce Operation, Maintenance & Hygiene manuals.
* Attend customer site surveys.
* Support R&D as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical degree.
* Proficient in Solidworks.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
