About the role:
The purpose of this role is to support the Programme Management Office (PMO) by tracking the status of programme deliverables and milestones, coordinating programme-level risks and issues, and monitoring the status of projects. The role also involves coordinating project governance and administering Project Online as the project management tool for all projects across the council. The Project Assurance Officer will support the assurance of all programmes and projects within the Strategy & Performance team.
Key Accountabilities & Duties:
1. Provide advice and guidance on best practices, governance, documentation, and tooling.
2. Work as part of the PMO team to deliver a high level of customer service to stakeholders, including the project management community, by providing support, challenge, and skills development.
3. Provide and maintain a suite of reports to give a comprehensive view of all programmes and projects across the council.
4. Check and provide feedback on business cases that justify the initiation, investment, and/or continuation of change initiatives in terms of benefits, costs, and risks.
5. Maintain all PMO templates and documentation, promoting the use of these documents across the council.
6. Ensure the PMO Portal (intranet site) is up to date.
7. Facilitate the delivery of key meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, writing minutes, and tracking actions.
8. Complete quality assurance on project management processes, including audits, stage gate reviews, and compliance checks.
9. Plan resource needs in line with the strategic direction of the organisation to ensure that resource utilisation is maintained and allocated at an appropriate level for optimal efficiency.
