Overview of this Project Engineer position:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team on an initial 12-month contract with the potential for permanency if desired. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a high-regulated FMCG environment, managing engineering projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities for this Project Engineer Role:
* Provide technical support across multiple functions within project scope, ensuring alignment with objectives.
* Verify dates and review engineering drawings, offering input on key engineering decisions.
* Collaborate with quality and R&D teams to ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Support the engineering department with expert knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems.
* Ensure thorough understanding and application of PUWER and 18th Edition regulations.
* Utilize Autodesk software to develop project plans and engineering designs.
* Oversee practical aspects such as welding and mechanical installations.
* Manage sub-projects within the broader scope, ensuring timely delivery with limited initial scope.
* Handle sourcing and specification of mechanical and electrical components, including conveyor belts, pumps, motors, pneumatics, and more.
* Maintain comprehensive project documentation for traceability and audits.
* Contribute to process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
* Work closely with operations to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum HNC in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical disciplines accepted).
* Project management certifications such as Prince 2 or Agile (highly desirable).
* Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
* Experience within FMCG, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries (GMP compliance preferred).
* Proven ability to manage multiple project phases, from design to implementation.
* Practical knowledge of compliance standards and engineering best practices.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD or Autodesk software.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to work onsite daily, with flexibility for occasional offsite requirements.
Interview Process:
* Assessment of process flow diagrams and thermodynamic concepts.
* Practical review of design errors to evaluate problem-solving abilities.
* Onsite interview to discuss project experience and technical expertise.
