Position
We are looking for a person with a good Honours Degree in Geography, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Forensic Science, Environmental Science or a similar subject to work as a part‑time Research Assistant with Professor Hunt on a laboratory‑based project on the geoarchaeology of the Neanderthal “Flower Burials” at Shanidar Cave, Iraq.
The contract is for six months. The work will involve the analysis of sediments, recording of laboratory results, data entry and contribution to the drafting of reports and research papers.
Responsibilities
* Participate in all aspects of the programme of work, including the day‑to‑day running of the research project
* Conduct sediment granulometry and geochemistry
* Record, enter and interpret data
* Communicate with Professor Hunt and the wider Shanidar Project team
* Assist with the production of internal reports and manuscripts for publication
Qualifications
Good Honours Degree in Geography, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Forensic Science, Environmental Science or a similar subject. Enthusiastic and highly organised individual.
