Description Lead our tomorrow as Transport Manager, within our fast-paced transport operation based in our Sherburn in Elmet depot. Reporting into our head of operations, you will provide strong operational and strategic leadership across the Transport Department, with full responsibility and accountability for managing the operation for our customer Sainsbury’s. Leading a large team of circa 300 colleagues (management, driver and admin) in the delivery of exceptional customer service whilst remaining cost effective, ensuring full legal compliance with a safety-first culture. Key Responsibilities: Managing a large transport operation delivering to customers in line with the agreed service level and customer service metrics. Fully accountable for the safe delivery and leadership of the Transport Operation for the site. Ensuring full legislative compliance across all areas including driving regulations, whilst clearly operating within health and safety guidelines and operational procedures. Support and delivery of the strategic business plan to maximise efficiency and identify and action improvements to the operation. Delivering costs within budget, with full root cause analysis in the event of variance. Input into and play an active role in the risk register and business planning. Managing a large vehicle fleet operating multi temperature composite loads. Ensure our vehicle maintenance programme and all defects are identified, correctly reported and rectified. Lead an effective trade union relationship and deliver engagement and wellbeing plans for the site. Deliver effective communication to ensure that information flows through all levels of the colleagues effectively and regularly to all key customers and colleagues to promote engagement and build good working relationships. Strong transport operational leadership experience within a fast-paced operation (National/International CPC preferred). Safety and results orientated, with drive to deliver on compliance, cost and deadlines. A confident leader and communicator to stakeholders at all levels. Passionate to develop, coach and lead a diverse team. Strategic focused, with proven P&L experience.
