About the Role:
We are seeking a talented SQL Developer to join our dynamic Core Development Team within the DDaT department at Staffordshire Police. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from developing in-house applications and interfaces to contributing to our Data Warehouse initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, test, and deliver SQL-based solutions to meet business needs
* Collaborate with business analysts to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
* Work with various technologies, including SQL Server, Oracle, C#, PowerShell, .NET, R, Python, XML, and JSON
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of our Data Warehouse, leveraging tools like Change Data Capture and SQL Server Integration Services
* Support data quality initiatives and implement data quality checks
* Participate in project planning, estimation, and risk management
* Provide technical support to business teams using Power BI, Business Objects, and other data visualization tools
* Contribute to the automation of tasks and processes
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Strong SQL skills, including experience with SQL Server or Oracle databases
* Experience in database design, development, and optimization
* Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
* Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Experience with C#, PowerShell, .Net, R, or Python
* Knowledge of Power BI, Business Objects, or other data visualization tools
* Experience with Change Data Capture and SQL Server Integration Services
* Data Quality experience
* Business and Technical Analysis skills
* Project Management or IT Service Management experience
