We are looking for a motivated and skilled member to join an already solid team. We are seeking an experienced Estimator who is comfortable in all aspects of construction, from breaking ground on day one to final completion across a broad range of domestic & commercial projects. As our business expands and evolves, we look to grow competent quality staff into it.
Candidates must have a good general knowledge of the construction trade and a good amount of experience. The candidate must be motivated to grow and excel as part of a management team for an expanding construction business. It is essential that the candidate has experience within the private domestic sector with small, medium & large scale projects, as the company accommodates a broad range.
The candidate should be particular in their work, take pride in what they do, and be committed to a long-term appointment. As an Estimator, you will actively price materials and labour for our private domestic & commercial projects, focusing on reducing costs and improving efficiencies, therefore having a real impact on our profitability and commercial success, as well as conducting site surveys, valuations & tender submissions.
Specific tasks will include:
1. Being responsible for the financial and technical aspects of our contracts across all workstreams, including procurement, cost control, variation account management & valuations.
2. Minimising costs where possible, maximising value, and ultimately making a profit.
3. Working with direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring all work issued has labour targets to return agreed profit performance.
4. Developing and maintaining relationships with the workforce, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
5. Procuring materials, plant, and subcontracts in line with the contract budgets.
6. Producing fortnightly contract valuations for each active site.
7. Conducting site surveys.
Essential Requirements:
1. Extensive experience within the private domestic & commercial sector, managing direct clients' expectations and delivering quality new build, extension, renovation, and conversion projects to a high standard.
2. A proven ability to minimise cost and maximise value, profit, and cash flow.
3. Strong IT and spreadsheet skills.
4. Experience in working with direct labour and subcontract procurement.
5. Experience working on Schedule of Rates contracts is desirable, with the ability to price works from first principles.
6. High awareness & experience of Health & Safety.
7. Must have a full UK driving license and a vehicle to commute.
