The Role
As a Freelance Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM), you will lead and oversee engineering activities across a range of high:profile rail projects. Youll be responsible for ensuring technical compliance, delivering solutions efficiently, and managing multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage engineering activities for projects, including canopy upgrades, structures over rail, and M and E systems.
* Act as the primary engineering contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
* Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, CDM regulations, and other industry requirements.
* Develop and implement engineering management plans, risk assessments, and assurance processes.
* Coordinate design, construction, and technical interfaces across all disciplines.
* Drive quality, safety, and innovation throughout project delivery.
About You
Theyre looking for a confident and experienced professional with the technical expertise to take charge of challenging engineering projects on a freelance basis.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) or in a similar role within the rail sector.
* In:depth knowledge of rail infrastructure, including canopy upgrades, structures over rail, and M and E systems.
* Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and procedures.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it).
* Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations.
* Excellent communication and problem:solving skills.
