Then this role may be the opportunity for you Led by the Chief Nursing Officer, the Directorate’s role is to develop and support implementation of policy and clinical practice for Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professions and Health Care Scientists in addition to leading on the regulation of all healthcare professionals and Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial resistance (HCAI/AMR) policy. These diverse policy portfolios all attract a high level of Ministerial, media and public interest. This role sits within the Directorate Support Unit. This gives you the opportunity to work with the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer and Chief Scientific Officer and their work across a broad range of policies in the DG Health and Social Care. Responsibilities Manage both Chiefs’ mailboxes and have oversight of all the key issues and developments within the division bringing them to the attention of the Chiefs. Through strong inbox management, filtering and prioritising emails, using sound judgement take forward relevant actions independently or working with the relevant team member to action as appropriate. Manage the Chiefs’ diaries by ensuring they have appropriate information and are fully prepared for meetings / speeches / engagements – working with the policy team - and that they have sufficient time for planning, clearance and travel. The Private Secretary will work closely with policy teams and the Chiefs to enhance their understanding about the professional area. Horizon scanning and working closely with the Chiefs and the relevant policy teams to ensure their strategic engagement maximises the development and delivery of key policies in the AHP and HCS areas in line with Directorate and DG priorities. Ensure all internal and external queries are dealt with within required time frames by coordinating commissions, cascading information and ensuring all relevant policy areas contribute where necessary. Provide resilience to the Private Secretary to the Chief Nursing Officer. This will involve significant communication with and access to the CNO as well as senior stakeholders in all aspects of their work as Head of the Nursing profession in Scotland as well as a Director of the Scottish Government.
