Are you passionate about the environment and committed to making a change?
Do you find yourself wondering how to solve the current and future challenges for the water environment?
Do you spend time thinking about how to leave a better world for future generations?
So do we. This is why we need you to come and join us in making tangible changes to improve water quality in the rivers and seas across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
We need a Wastewater Environmental Data and River Water Quality Modelling Specialist to lead the development and improvement of our capabilities to capture, understand and use environmental data to inform our business and investment decisions. This data is critical to understand our impacts on the environment, the sources of pollution in rivers, and shaping our future investment plans. You will play a key role in informing the development of our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan, the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), the Long-Term Delivery Strategy (LTIS) and future Price Reviews. You will lead on the completion of regulatory data tables for our plans and support internal reviews and external assurance processes.
Your role will ensure our wastewater services meet the needs of our current and future customers, are resilient in the face of a changing climate, and improve water quality in local rivers, estuaries and the sea across our region.
You will work with the environmental regulators to improve environmental data relating to wastewater services and determine the future environmental constraints and investment needs through appropriate river water quality modelling (using SAGIS).
This role is about improving environmental data, modelling and forecasting to provide the evidence needed to support our future investment decisions and plans.
You should have a degree or qualification in a relevant subject area (engineering or science-based), but most importantly, you need to have technical knowledge of wastewater processes and treatment, a good understanding of the regulatory requirements and frameworks of the water industry, proficient at engaging internal and external stakeholders, and experience of environmental planning.
You need excellent digital skills especially in Excel and Geographical Information Systems. You will also have excellent communication (oral and written) and data analytical skills, hold a valid driver’s licence, and have access to a car.
This role offers many opportunities to progress and grow within the company. Not only in the Wastewater Asset Strategy & Planning department, but as you build strong relationships with other departments, you may discover additional career growth opportunities with us.
