We are currently seeking to recruit several staff nurses to join us in delivering high quality, compassionate care, and support within our services at Brooklands Hospital.
Brooklands Hospital provides specialist inpatient assessment and treatment for adults and children with a learning disability, including adult medium and low secure units. Solihull Community Learning Disability Team are also based here.
Malvern Unit - Male Low Secure 13bedded unit.
The Malvern Unit is for adults aged 18 years or over who have a learning disability, who have a history of criminal offending, have been in the prison system or detained under the Mental Health Act.
The Secure Services provides specialist assessment, treatment and where appropriate intensive rehabilitation services, for offenders with a learning disability in medium and low secure placements on the Brooklands site.
Each patient has their own bedroom, there are communal spaces, including a lounge, a therapy room, where patients can take part in arts and crafts, a therapy kitchen, and outside space to enjoy games and sports in and an outdoor gym.
Staff on Malvern are encouraged to develop in their careers with excellent training opportunities being available within the trust .
Onsite there is a full range of other professionals to enable full multi-disciplinary team working – these include :
Practice Nurses
Psychiatrists
Speech and language therapists
Dietician
Occupational Therapists
Psychology
Activity workers

Take on the role of nurse in charge daily or when delegated by the Unit Manager or Deputy and prioritise competing demands and the workload of other staff across the service including the accountability for all patient care and the wellbeing of staff and visitors to the unit.
The post holder will be appointed to work within an inpatient environment at Brooklands Hospital and will be accountable to the unit manager.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in implementing planned packages of care from admission through to discharge within a therapeutic environment.
The post holder will be expected to participate in and facilitate the various group activities that occur on the ward as part of the inpatient treatment programme and will act as named nurse to allocated patients.
Whilst full induction and training will be given, due to the specialist nature of the services it is crucial that staff have a particular interest in this patient group.
The post holder is required to possess and constantly update skills which enable them to provide services to this specialist group of patients
