Main Purpose of the Role
To support the major projects commercial teams in the delivery of the best commercial outcome available by maximizing our commercial opportunity and reducing our risk exposure. Ensuring through project visits and engagement with the teams they are managing the Contract appropriately. To drive the business's behaviors and values through leadership, communication, and training.
Key Tasks
* Support the Major Projects team undertaking the live Contracts, particularly the senior leadership teams.
* Provide contractual guidance where required by assisting our project teams.
* Assist with key claims/compensation events/early warnings that the teams may be pursuing when required or requested.
* Monitor site performance (profitability, opportunity, and risk) through project financial and commercial reporting and report to the major project’s director monthly or when concerns are raised.
* Prepare with the site teams the monthly forecasting for review by the Major Projects Director.
* Drive and promote the development of the teams to ensure all commercial team members improve their competency.
* Understand and develop relationships with our clients and their teams and attend senior meetings.
* Provide support to the Projects tender team to ensure contract reviews are completed and key risks and opportunities are identified and complete the commercial governance documentation.
Responsibilities
* Provide through leadership positive commercial outcomes from our live projects.
* Monitor/review the profitability of each project and highlight any concerns or opportunities.
* Review and provide appropriate advice to the teams where necessary.
* Identify and drive improvement initiatives in line with the strategic needs of the business.
* Provide input into the tender process and participate in risk review meetings.
Essential Personal Skills Required
* A focus on providing excellent commercial management.
* Ability to work with our teams to identify improvement opportunities to increase profitability and manage risk.
* Technical knowledge of a variety of forms of contract with an in-depth understanding of NEC Contracts and experience of large infrastructure projects.
* Senior commercial experience within the construction industry.
* Excellent people management skills and a proven record of success in supporting construction teams.
* Team player and approachable to all, whatever their level of responsibility.
* Full driving license and ability to work nationally throughout the UK.
* Good links within the industry and with potential clients.
Other Duties
* Monitor commercial performance of the live Contracts.
* Monitor, develop, and report on key performance indicators.
* Monitor leading & retrospective behavioral indicators.
* Participate in engagement tours with sites.
* Review training requirements for the Project’s team members.
* Review site commercial procedures/processes.
* Promote and share lessons learned.
* Assist in development reviews.
