We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax & Policy Manager to join a team of some 13+ finance professionals who provide tax compliance, planning, reporting and analysis, as well as managing the internal audit process. This is a senior role which includes managing direct reports, you'll need to think strategically about your key areas of responsibility, identifying potential risks and opportunities across NHS PS through proactive collaboration and communication with colleagues and proactive horizon scanning. The salary on offer is up to £60,000 DOE with eligibility for our annual 10% bonus, and we offer flexible hybrid working.
About the role:
The role will report into the Head of Corporate Insight Value it sits within the Corporate Insight & Value team in London. The successful individual will join a team of 13+ finance professionals who provide tax compliance, planning, reporting and analysis, as well as managing the internal audit process. This role is for an experienced Tax and Policy Manager to lead on our tax compliance and internal audit activities and lead on the governance of our policy framework.
You'll lead on all elements of our tax compliance activities including both annual corporation tax return prepared in conjunction with external 3rd party suppliers, and VAT returns. They will also lead on our Internal Audit programme supporting our internal stakeholders to complete actions and an external 3rd party supplier to carry out our internal audit plan with a ‘no surprises’ approach. They will also lead on our policy framework governance including policy hub.
You Will :
1. Challenge stakeholders on best practice in all areas of responsibility
2. Lead the team to deliver continual improvements in all aspects of policy framework, internal audit and tax compliance from approach, to automation, through use of latest systems and tools
3. Manage the corporation tax compliance process and ensure that all relevant information is supplied to third party supplier to prepare and submit the company’s tax return to HMRC in line with deadlines
4. Coordinate the production of appropriate Policies relevant to areas of responsibility and ensure stakeholders are held accountable for deliverables
5. Management of team of 2x colleagues including coaching, development and performance management
6. Other duties as assigned by the Interim Head of Corporate Insight & Value
What you will bring to the role:
7. Practical financial accounting & Internal Audit experience
8. Excellent knowledge of tax accounting and tax compliance including capital allowances and capital gains tax
9. Being able to translate proposed changes into practical processes.
10. Customer/stakeholder focussed activity, continually evaluating stakeholder experience and making improvements as needed .
11. Recognised Finance professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) ( ideally 3 years PQE + experience)
12. Leading Team from the front by prioritising resources, removing obstacles and empowering team members to deliver results
13. Stakeholder management including senior stakeholders and Executives
