We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax & Policy Manager to join the Corporate Finance Function. This role sits within the Corporate Insight & Value team in London. The individual will join a team of some 13 finance professionals who provide tax compliance, planning, reporting and analysis, as well as managing the internal audit process. We're offering up to 65,000 dependant upon experience along with a flexible working policy. (We will be prioritising interviews in Jan after Xmas break) About the role: The role will report to the Interim Head of Corporate Insight and Value. This role is for an experienced Tax and Policy Manager to lead on our tax compliance and internal audit activities and lead on the governance of our policy framework. IT will cover the governance, reporting, training, communication and management of all aspects of tax compliance, internal audit and policy framework. The role holder will need technical tax accounting and compliance experience alongside knowledge and experience of financial controls. You Will : Lead the relationship with Internal Audit partner including initial internal audit planning, and delivery of the internal audit plan by our 3 rd party provider in line with no surprises approach. This includes review and management of all communications to Exec and AGC covering both internal audits and closure of internal audit actions. Manage the corporation tax compliance process and ensure that all relevant information is supplied to third party supplier to prepare and submit the company s tax return to HMRC in line with deadlines Lead on planning year end corporation tax including forecasting of tax liabilities and monthly capture and review of all capital allowance opportunities throughout the year and ensuring these are accurately recorded and allocated to the appropriate pools to maximise claims Lead on the preparation of tax figures, disclosures and tax notes for financial statements Research and documentation of tax sensitive issues, as required. Keeping up to date with legislative tax changes and building these into our internal process and controls Responsible for the accurate and timely completion and sign off of VAT and CIS returns and monthly payments on account, monthly postings, reconciliations and reporting Management of team of 2x colleagues including coaching, development and performance management Horizon scanning for opportunities and risks in all areas or responsibility Identify and mitigate risks in areas of responsibility through robust control and governance frameworks What you will bring to the role: Previous experience leading a team from the front by prioritising resources, removing obstacles and empowering team members to deliver results Stakeholder management including senior stakeholders and Executives Recognised Finance professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and at least 3 years PQE experience Practical financial accounting Internal Audit experience Excellent knowledge of tax accounting and tax compliance including capital allowances and capital gains tax VAT compliance Considers the target audience, adapting style and communication method accordingly. Excellent motivator, facilitator and negotiator Challenges current thinking / methods constructively.
